The National Weather Service has issued a warning for what could be the first wind storm of the season on the North Olympic Peninsula.
The high wind warning has been set from 8 p.m. tonight to 6 a.m. Friday for the Pacific Coast and Admiralty Inlet.
Forecasters predicted a southerly wind between 20 mph to 35 mph, with gusts up to 45-50 mph tonight.
The storm is expected to weaken as it moves inland early Friday.
“Impacts are likely to be larger for a given wind speed than later in the season,” the weather service said.
“Most trees still have the majority of their leaves and are somewhat more prone to falling. We are therefore issuing a high wind warning for winds that normally warrant only a wind advisory.
“Expect some trees to fall, and some of them will fall on power lines causing scattered power outages on the coast and over the north interior.”
