OLYMPIC NATIONAL PARK — A 24-year-old woman was airlifted Wednesday from Grand Valley off Obstruction Point Road because of possible heat-related illness.
Two rangers had hiked to her Tuesday evening, according to Penny Wagner, park spokeswoman.
“Rangers stayed with her overnight and were going to try to hike out with her, but she needed to be evacuated,” Wagner said.
She was airlifted to Fairchild International Airport at about 2 p.m. Wednesday. An ambulance took her to Olympic Medical Center. The woman had been on a day hike when she became ill. Her hiking partner walked out and reported her illness to park dispatchers, Wagner said.
