PORT ANGELES — A Port Angeles woman was charged with second-degree assault Wednesday for allegedly sicking her two pit bull mixes on her live-in boyfriend after the couple had a fight.
Charlotte Ann Blake, 47, was released without bail Wednesday, but was ordered by the court to not “have the care” of any large dogs.
The two dogs are currently housed at the Clallam County Humane Society, awaiting orders from the court, said Executive Director Paula Creasey.
Creasey said that the dogs appeared to have been neglected but have been good-natured and gentle with staff.
The couple had a fight on Tuesday and the man left the residence.
He later returned to the residence to get something to eat. Blake then allegedly told the dogs to “Get him,” according to court documents.
Blake told investigators that the dogs were defending her, said Clallam County Undersheriff Steve Snover.
