Woman crashes vehicle into house near Sequim

SEQUIM — A 78-year-old woman crashed her car into a house near Sequim on Thursday after suffering a medical emergency, according to Clallam County Fire District No. 3.

Emergency responders were called after a Subaru Outback hit a house in the 900 block of North Kendall Road.

Crews found a car that had left the road and traveled several hundred yards before it hit and damaged the home.

It is believed that the driver might have suffered a medical emergency just before losing control of the vehicle, said Patrick Young, District No. 3 spokesman.

Young did not identify the driver and said there were no passengers in the car.

Crews removed the woman from the vehicle and transported her to Olympic Medical Center for treatment.

Her condition was not known Thursday.

It was not known whether anyone was in the house at the time it was hit.

Damage to the house was considered minor, he said.

It was the second time this week that a building in the Sequim-Dungeness Valley had been struck by a vehicle.

The historical Old Dungeness Schoolhouse was grazed Monday by a van driven by an alleged drunken driver.

Damage to the entrance of the 119-year-old structure was estimated at $1,000.
