SEQUIM — A fire destroyed a Sequim motel room Saturday night, and while no one was injured, a woman was jailed while police investigate attempted murder charges in connection with the blaze.
Sheree Clemons, 26, of Sequim was taken to Clallam County jail, and Sequim police are investigating three counts of attempted murder, they said Sunday.
Police and personnel from Clallam County Fire Protection District No. 3 were called to the Sequim West Inn on West Washington Street around 11:45 p.m. Saturday.
A room at the end of the building’s second floor was engulfed in flames when they arrived.
A man, his wife and their two small children were in the room when the fire started, according to police.
The motel was evacuated. It took firefighters about three hours to extinguish the flames.
The room was destroyed, but flames were contained to that room, according to a fire district report.
However, fire suppression efforts probably damaged other parts of the building. A damage estimate was not available Sunday.
