PORT ANGELES — A Clallam County woman suffered minor injuries Sunday when she drove a Mazda Tribute sport utility vehicle into a ditch along Hoare Road south of Port Angeles, Clallam County Fire District No. 2 officials said.
Francis Palm was taken to Olympic Medical Center with head and neck pain, according to Clallam County Sheriff’s Chief Criminal Deputy Ron Cameron said.
The elderly woman’s injuries were not life-threatening, Cameron said.
“She was fine,” he said.
Fire District No. 2 Assistant Chief Mike DeRousie said the vehicle failed to negotiate a corner and drove off the road.
Crews were dispatched at 5:08 p.m.
Medics used a special backboard to extract the patient from the vehicle, DeRousie said.
One paramedic, five emergency medical technicians, three lieutenants, one captain and DeRousie were on the scene.
Drugs or alcohol were not suspected in the wreck, Cameron said.
The weather was overcast, and the roads were dry Sunday evening,
DeRousie said.
