PORT TOWNSEND — Fire investigators today are looking into the cause of a house fire in the 900 block of Taylor Street late Sunday night that injured its elderly occupant.
The woman, who was unidentified, suffered minor burns and was taken to Jefferson Healthcare hospital, East Jefferson Fire-Rescue Assistant Chief Steve Craig said this morning.
Craig said firefighters saw flames coming from the building when they arrived just before midnight, and they were able to quickly knock down the fire in the front room.
Significant smoke damage occurred to the single story structure.
Paramedics treated the woman for first-degree burns to the arms and back before transporting her to the Port Townsend hospital. There were no other occupants in the home.
Craig said the cause of the fire is under investigation, but does not appear to be of suspicious origin.
