PORT ANGELES — Mackenzie Hagstrom and Raquel Ellen Powell are the final recipients of the 2014 Womanfest Scholarships.
Hagstrom is a junior nursing student aspiring to be a nurse midwife, and Powell is working on her associate degree at Peninsula College with a long-term goal to work in childhood trauma and neuroscience.
Womanfest, a nonprofit organization, provides financial support for women-centered projects, including an annual scholarship program.
Primary funding for the scholarship fund comes from the annual Womanfest Fall Retreat at Camp David Jr.
The retreat also provides an opportunity for women of all ages to come together in a relaxed and supportive environment.
This year’s retreat will take place Sept. 19-21.
