GARDINER — The Women Veterans Conference and Luncheon scheduled for Friday has been delayed because of the weather.
“The conference, Feb. 8th, has been delayed due to local & statewide snowy and icy roads,” according to the Olympic Community Action Program’s VetConnect Facebook page.
The announcement said that the conference will be rescheduled for another Friday, “probably a Friday in April.”
Some 40 to 50 people had registered for the conference, said Rita Frangione, outreach coordinator for VetConnect.
“We have contact information from everyone, so we’ll be notifying everyone,” about the new date, she said.
The third annual conference was set for the Gardiner Community Center. Keynote speakers were Lourdes E. “Alfie” Alvarado-Ramos, director of the state Department of Veterans Affairs; and M.J., Mariano of Veterans Affairs Mental Health Services.
A panel discussion also was scheduled.
The event offers area women veterans an opportunity to network and learn more about accessible resources on the Olympic Peninsula.
