PORT TOWNSEND –Work resumed Thursday to shore up the storm-damaged waterfront building containing The Surf restaurant after rising tide waters halted efforts on Monday.
Thursday’s work consisted of forming two 80-foot long strips 10 inches deep of concrete footings for heavy-duty scaffolding to rest on to support the weight of the building.
“The main challenge is coordinating everything,” said project manager Dave Clevenger.
“The work is straight-forward, but coordinating everything is the difficult part, especially during the holidays.”
Clevenger said that the plan was to finish the concrete pour on Monday, but because of the tides only three-quarters was poured.
He said he was glad that the weather seemed like it would hold out for work crews on Thursday.
