PORT ANGELES — A workshop, “Living Well with Chronic Conditions,” will be offered at the Armory Square Mall in Port Angeles beginning June 7.
The six-week series will meet each Wednesday from 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. in Olympic Community Action Programs’ office at Armory Square, 228 W. First St.
There is no charge for seniors or for the course handbook for seniors 60 and older (55 and older for Native Americans).
Family members, friends and caregivers can enroll for a small fee, said Laura Calabria, coordinator of the workshop sponsored by OlyCAP.
The workshop aims to provide instruction in skills to help people manage their chronic conditions and live well.
Workshop topics include healthful eating, safe physical activity, stress management, managing medications, communication, working with health care providers and goal-setting and problem-solving.
“Workshop participants report that they feel healthier, they lead more active lives, have less depression and a better health-related quality of life,” Calabria said.
