RAYMOND — Two Port Angeles residents were injured in a two-car wreck in Pacific County this week.
Peter W. Watkins, 67, and Christine K. Watkins, 65, both of Port Angeles, were injured when a vehicle running out of control struck their car on state Highway 6, eight miles east of Raymond, on Monday afternoon, the State Patrol said.
The two, along with two injured Raymond residents — Terry Lewis, 62, and Leonel Ruelas Jr., 15 — were taken to Willapa Harbor Hospital, the State Patrol said.
Hospital personnel did not respond Tuesday to requests for their conditions.
Peter Watkins was driving a 2011 Ford Fusion eastbound on Highway 6 at about 3:30 p.m. Monday when a westbound 2000 Dodge Durango driven by Lewis left the roadway on the right shoulder, overcorrected and struck the Ford, according to the State Patrol.
After striking the Ford, the Dodge overturned and came to rest on its wheels.
The Fusion came to a stop in a roadside ditch.
State troopers determined that the wreck was caused by the Durango’s wheels leaving the roadway.
State Patrol troopers did not suspect drugs or alcohol use were involved in the wreck.
Charges are pending, the State Patrol said.
