A Port Angeles couple will return home later this week after their vacation to Grand Teton National Park was cut short by an elk herd.
Phil and Janey Hill were riding their Harley-Davidson motorcycle through the Wyoming park about 9 p.m. on Aug. 10. They rounded a curve and encountered an elk herd in the road, according to daughter Pamela Burke.
Mrs. Hill suffered a severe case of “road rash” from a spill, Burke said. An elk had stepped on her head so more serious injuries were feared.
She was taken to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls, Idaho.
However, two CT scans came back negative for any injuries, Burke said. Mrs. Hill was listed in stable condition Sunday was scheduled to be released Tuesday.
