North Olympic Peninsula transit agencies are offering youth passes for the summer.
Both Clallam Transit and Jefferson Transit are offering $20 passes.
The pass is available to anyone aged 6 to 19 via Clallam Transit and to those 18 and younger from Jefferson Transit.
It is good from Memorial Day through Labor Day.
Clallam Transit is offering the pass for the 12th consecutive summer.
Clallam Transit, Jefferson Transit, Mason County Transit and Grays Harbor County Transit are honoring each other’s summer youth pass programs on fixed routes.
Cooperative agreement
Transit officials said the cooperative agreement between the agencies is intended to allow young people to loop around the entire Peninsula in one day while encouraging youth ridership.
The summer pass is a bargain compared with Clallam Transit’s $18-per-month youth base pass or $36-per-month youth premium pass.
“Public transit doesn’t get much better than this,” Clallam Transit general manager Terry Weed said in a statement.
“With unlimited rides all summer across four counties and around the Olympic Peninsula, there isn’t a better transportation deal anywhere.”
Weed added that the pass can be used to attend summer activities or “create a new adventure.”
‘Take pressure off’
“The pass was developed to take some of the pressure off busy parents who would otherwise shuttle their young people to summer activities,” Weed said.
“With the increased price of fuel these days, it really is a great savings.”
Clallam Transit youth passes can be purchased at pass outlets in Port Angeles, Sequim and Forks, or at the Clallam Transit office at 830 W. Lauridsen Blvd., Port Angeles.
Jefferson Transit youth passes can be purchased from transit operators or at the Jefferson Transit office at 1615 W. Sims Way in Port Townsend, said Jefferson Transit operations manager Patty Perry.
