Voter turnout in both North Olympic Peninsula counties greatly surpassed the statewide turnout in Tuesday’s general election.
Clallam County had a 49.75 percent voter turnout after a second count of ballots on Wednesday while Jefferson County had a 56.49 voter turnout on Tuesday, its most recent ballot count.
State turnout was 38.78 percent on Wednesday.
The Clallam County Auditor’s Office had 13,000 ballots still on hand after Wednesday’s count. The next count will be by 5 p.m. today.
Jefferson County had 948 on hand after Tuesday’s count. It plans to update results today.
