Port Townsend City Council hopefuls to debate Thursday

Deadline to submit questions for candidates is Tuesday

PORT TOWNSEND — The four candidates vying for two seats on the Port Townsend City Council this November will take part in a livestreamed forum Thursday.

In the Zoom meeting, position 1 hopefuls Cameron Jones and Ben Thomas will speak from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Position 5 candidates Tyler Vega and Libby Wennstrom will follow from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Renee Klein will moderate the forum, which is sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Jefferson County and the American Association of University Women of Port Townsend.

Links to Thursday’s forum are posted on the League’s website, https://lwvwa.org/Jefferson. Voters will also be able to listen to it at KPTZ-FM 91.9 and KPTZ.org.

The forum will also be recorded, edited and later linked on the League’s website and YouTube channel.

Between their opening and closing statements, the candidates will answer questions submitted by the public.

The deadline to send such questions is noon Tuesday via lwvjeffcowa@gmail.com.

Ballots for the Nov. 2 election will be mailed next week.

Residents who have yet to register to vote can do so online or by mail by Oct. 25; information can be found at https://co.jefferson.wa.us/1266/Elections. After that date, residents can register in person at the Jefferson County Courthouse, 1820 Jefferson St., through Election Day on Nov. 2.
