Sports events occurring on the North Olympic Peninsula

5K Flagler Run serving as senior project

NORDLAND — Chimacum High School student Fah Lamaichampa is organizing a 5K fun run as her senior project.

The 5K Flagler Run will take place at Fort Flagler State Park, 10541 Flagler Road, on Sunday, Sept. 18.

The race starts at 1 p.m.

The event will raise funds for the Feed the Child organization, Lamaichampa said in an email.

Avalanche tryouts

PORT ANGELES — The Olympic Avalanche AAU girls basketball team will hold open tryouts at the Peninsula College gym from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 7.

The tryouts are for an eighth-grade team, but are open to both seventh and eight-graders.
