AREA SPORTS BRIEFS: Anglers meeting Wednesday night at Sequim Elks

SEQUIM — Olympic Peninsula Fly Fishers vice president Don Wilcox will provide an overview of the group’s activities at Wednesday’s meeting of the North Olympic Peninsula chapter of Puget Sound Anglers.

The meeting will be held at the Sequim Elks Lodge, 143 Port Williams Road, with doors at 6:30 p.m. and will start at 7 p.m.

Wilcox will discuss Fly Fishers’ work with Project Healing Waters that helps active duty and retired wounded warriors, fly-tying classes, conservation efforts and gear selection for fishing the waters around the Peninsula.

A short business meeting, fishing reports and raffle drawings will be held following his talk. Raffles are for members only. Join that night to participate in the raffle. An annual individual membership is $25 and a family membership is $35 and includes The Reel News monthly.

Peewee basketball

FORKS — West End Youth League will hold an in-person registration Saturday for Peewee Basketball for all students in first and second grades.

The session will run from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the back room of Pacific Pizza. The cost is $35 per player, due at registration.

East Jefferson signups

PORT HADLOCK — Registration sessions for East Jefferson Little League baseball and softball ends tonight at 11:59 p.m. at www.ejlittleleague.com.

T-Ball is $75 per player. All other divisions are $100 with a $10 discount for the first sibling and $20 for additional siblings.

Registration open for North Olympic Baseball

PORT ANGELES — Registration is underway for North Olympic Baseball & Softball’s spring 2023 season. The link to register for Minors, Majors 12U and Majors 16U softball is available at https://tinyurl.com/PDN-NOBASSoftball.

Skills tryouts for softball and baseball are planned in late February and March at the Lower Elwha’s Billy Whiteshoes Memorial Park.

Softball tryout dates are Feb. 25 and March 4. Times are 9 a.m. for 16U; 10 a.m. for U11 and U12; 11 a.m. for 10U and 9 a.m. for 9U.

Baseball tryout dates are Feb. 26 and March 5. Times are 9 a.m. for 12-year-olds, 10 a.m. for age 11, 11 a.m. for age 10 and 12:30 p.m. for players 9 and younger.
