Basketball referees sought on Peninsula

PORT ANGELES — The North Olympic Basketball Officials Association is looking for junior high and high school basketball officials.

The association will meet at the Vern Burton Center, 308 E. Fourth St., on Sunday, Oct. 30.

New officials will meet at 4:30 p.m. and veteran officials will meet at 5 p.m.

No experience is needed as training will be provided.

The association covers boys and girls games around the North Olympic Peninsula.

Officials receive a game fee plus travel money.

Babe Ruth meeting

PORT ANGELES — Letters of interest for open board positions with Olympic Junior Babe Ruth will be accepted at the organization’s next meeting at the Volunteer Field Clubhouse, W. 18th and L streets, at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Letters also may be mailed to Olympic Junior Babe Ruth, PO Box 1715, Port Angeles, WA, 98362.

City league hoops

PORT ANGELES — Registration is open for the men’s city league basketball league offered by the city of Port Angeles Parks and Recreation Department.

The league is open to men ages 18 and older.

Games will begin the week of Nov. 6 and will be held at Roosevelt Elementary School.

Fees are $440 per team, plus an individual player’s fee of $28 for city residents, $42 for non-city residents.

Team packets are available at the Parks and Recreation office, 308 E. Fourth St.

Players without a team can call and be placed on a free agent list.

The registration deadline is Sunday.
