PORT TOWNSEND — Nearly 80 competitors and volunteers gathered at the Fort Worden petanque/bocce courts Saturday in a bocce event hosted by the Jefferson County Warriors in preparation of the Southwest Regional Special Olympics to be held in Olympia.

The competition brought teams from Jefferson, Clallam and Kitsap counties. Forty-eight teams competed in pairs in the round-robin tournament.

Organizers thanked the efforts of the many volunteers who ran the event, the Port Townsend Petanque Alliance for its support and use of equipment, Fort Worden for hosting the event, and the team coaches.
