AREA SPORTS BRIEFS: Forks’ Cisneros earns Graebenhorst Scholarship; Sequim youth football camp this week; Gymnastics registration

Youth football camp scheduled

SEQUIM — Area youths are invited to learn skills from Sequim High School players and coaches at a Wolves Youth Football Camp set for 5-6:30 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday at the Sequim High School practice fields on West Fir Street just west of the high school campus, 601 N. Sequim Ave.

The camp is open to boys and girls in grades kindergarten through eighth grade. Cost is $45 and participants receive a junior football, snacks, water and ice cream.

Beuke, UW in final

INDIANAPOLIS — Elisa Beuke and the Washington women’s second varsity eight rowing team will race for an NCAA Division I championship this morning at Indianapolis Rowing Center at Eagle Creek Park.

Beuke graduated from Sequim High School in 2015 and rowed for the Olympic Peninsula Rowing Association.

Beuke was a member of UW’s national championship team in 2017 and national championship runner-up teamin 2018.

She and her Huskies teammates won their first heat Friday by a little more than six seconds against runner-up Brown. The second varsity eight edged Ohio State by just over a tenth of a second (0.13) in 6:52.663 in Saturday’s semifinal.

Today’s race against teams from Michigan, Stanford, Texas, Ohio State and Virginia is available to watch online at ncaa.com/sports/rowing/d1.

Klahhane Gymnastics

PORT ANGELES — Registration for Klahhane Gymnastics’ summer gymnastics and ninja classes are now open. Summer classes run Monday through Thursday, July 1-Aug. 22. Gymnastics classes are available for ages 2-14, and ninja classes for ages 4-13. The summer schedule allows flexible pre-registration on a class-by-class basis; parents can create an individualized schedule around other summer activities.

All classes have minimum and maximum limits. Early registration is suggested for best choice of class times.

Pre-registration in person with pre-payment by cash, check or auto-pay agreement is required (debit cards not accepted) at the Klahhane facility, 3318 Acorn Lane, Port Angeles.

Registration hours through Monday: 3:30-6:30 p.m. The office will be closed June 4-8 and re-open for extended registration June 10-29. Specific days and times are posted at www.klahhanegymnastics.org.
