Youth softball clinic Friday in Sequim; Soccer cleat swap set for Monday

LACEY — Saint Martin’s University freshman Chloe Leverington has been named Great Northern Athletic Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week for March 21-27.

Leverington threw two complete-game wins last weekend, allowing three hits and striking out five in five innings in a 9-0 win over Simon Fraser last Saturday and scattering two runs on seven hits while striking out a pair in a 6-2 win in the series’ finale last Sunday.

The wins helped the Saints (14-8) extend their win streak to 10 games, the team’s longest since the 2012 season.

On the season, Leverington is 4-0 with a 2.39 ERA in 44 innings in the circle.

Leverington is a 2021 Forks High School graduate.

Youth softball clinic

SEQUIM — A youth softball clinic will be hosted tonight by the Sequim High School varsity team.

The clinic will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Sequim Little League fields, 124 W. Silberhorn Road.

Pitching instruction, defensive drills and hitting practice are planned for players in Minors division and up.

Players should bring softball gear and arrive ready to play.

The cost is $20 and players should be signed up by 4 p.m. at tinyurl.com/PDN-SoftballClinic.

In-person registration will be held from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Soccer cleats swap

SEQUIM — Area youth soccer players can swap out old cleats for a pair of gently used cleats or pick up a set of gently used cleats at Sequim Junior Soccer’s Soccer Swap set Monday.

The swap will be held at the Albert Haller Playfields in Sequim from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Players do not have to bring old cleats to swap.

The event was moved to Monday due to rain.
