AREA SPORTS BRIEFS: Olympic Adventure Trail Run set April 12, spots remain

OAT Run set April 12, price increase Tuesday

PORT ANGELES — The Olympic Adventure Trail Run 12K, half-marathon and 50K races are coming up April 12 and slots are still available for competitors.

The point-to-point trail race takes place on the Adventure Trail Run between Port Angeles and Lake Crescent. There is a price increase on Tuesday, so people are encouraged to sign up as soon as possible. To sign up, people can go to https://tinyurl.com/PDN-OAT25.

Competitors are shuttled to the start line, and then post-race are shuttled to the after-party at Extreme Sports Park, where there will be food, beverages, bonfires and prizes. Brand new this year will be a wood-fired sauna from Salish Sauna Company for the racers.

“Spring is a beautiful time on the Adventure Trail — wildflowers are starting to pop up, the temperatures are great for running, and thanks to the dedicated volunteer maintenance crew, the trail tread is in great shape,” said race director Lorrie Mittmann.

For more information about the race, how to register, and race sponsors, go to OATRun.org

The next race in the Peninsula Adventure Sports lineup is Bon Jon Pass Out near Quilcene on June 14.

The event will be hosted by Chels Botero at Cedar & Salt Co., 713 E. First Street, at 4:30 p.m.

Participants will design their own trucker hat with access to a variety of materials including fabric paints, patches and embroidery.

All proceeds from the event support the baseball team, including funding for equipment, uniforms and travel expenses.

Registration is $40 and available at https://tinyurl.com/PDN-BuildPAHat.
