PORT ANGELES — 7 Cedars Casino, Black Diamond Electric and The Cougars picked up wins on opening day of the Peninsula Basketball League on Sunday at Peninsula College.
Dan Horton and Gabriel Long each went for 15 points and Andrew Halberg added 14, leading 7 Cedars past The Fellas 69-26. Jason Brocklesby had 11 points for The Fellas.
Black Diamond outscored Girona BC, a team made up of PC soccer players, 91-41, getting 33 points from Isaiah Moore. Nil Grau led Girona with 15 and Jem Ndja had 10.
The Cougars were too much for Brixx, getting 24 from Quan Wheeler and 23 from Barry Holland in an 80-58 win. Woodly Stangle Jr. sank seven 3-pointers for 21 points and James Walsh and Robert Whiteshield each had 13 for Brixx.
More clam digs
OLYMPIA — Razor clam diggers can look forward to more digging on coastal beaches this week, Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife coastal shellfish managers confirmed.
“With the cold weather behind us for now, we are looking forward to getting back to digging with warmer temperatures and calmer winds,” said Bryce Blumenthal, a WDFW coastal shellfish biologist.
The following digs during afternoon and evening low tides (noon to midnight only) will proceed as scheduled:
