Pickleballers fare well at Founders’

BAINBRIDGE — More than 250 pickleball players participated in the Bainbridge Island Founders’ Tournament last weekend. Pickleball was first played on the island in 1965.

North Olympic Peninsula players medaling at the tournament included Port Angeles’ Colleen Alger and Richard Reed who earned a gold medal in the age 50-plus Mixed Doubles 3.5 skill level.

Sequim’s Vebol Bul teamed with Kent’s Ryan Shipman to win gold in the 19-49 Men’s Doubles 4.5.

Reed and Steve Bennett of Port Angeles picked up a silver medal in the 50-plus Men’s Doubles 4.0.

Firewood benefit

PORT ANGELES — The Port Angeles High School boys basketball program is selling raffle tickets for a firewood fundraiser.

Three winners will be selected with each winner receiving a cord of firewood.

Tickets are $5 each, or $20 for five.

Ticket buyers should provide their name, contact number and address on a raffle ticket.

Wood will be delivered Saturday, Sept. 21.

Run A Muck back

PORT ANGELES — Registration is open for Run A Muck, an obstacle course mud run, at Extreme Sports Park on Saturday, Sept. 14.

To register, visit tinyurl.com/PDN-RunAMuck19.

Individual registration fees for ages 14 and older are $45; $30 for ages 10-13.

Kids 10 and younger are $10.

Teams of 10 or more receive discounts.

Proceeds benefit Pennies for Quarters, a group that works to provide shelter, counseling and other services for homeless veterans.
