PC Hall of Fame
PORT ANGELES — The Peninsula College Hall of Fame Committee is now accepting nominations through Oct. 31 for its next induction ceremony, planned for spring 2023.
Members of the college and community and Pirates alumni are invited to nominate individuals or teams who have made outstanding contributions to Peninsula College Athletics. The nomination criteria and form is available at gopcpirates.com under PC Athletics Hall of Fame.
“We have such a rich history dating back to the early 1960s, and so many great coaches, players, staff and community members have contributed to our success,” said associate dean Rick Ross. “This event is always such a great time, remembering the people and the stories that make up our history. I hope our community and our alumni will take advantage of this opportunity to nominate individuals and teams that maybe our committee hasn’t considered.”
The HOF selection committee will meet in November to determine the inductees who will be celebrated in May or June. That committee is made up of PC athletic staff, community members and alumni.
Pirate Athletics holds its hall of fame event every other year, but missed a year due to the pandemic. The most recent inductees from the 2021 celebration included the 2012-13 men’s and women’s soccer teams along with long-time basketball scorekeeper Bill Peterson. The 2018 inductees included the 2000 men’s basketball team, Curt Bagby, Kent Brauninger, Mark Amaral and Bill Quenette. The 2016 class included the 2010 men’s soccer team, Jim Lunt, Rose Moorhead, Scooter Chapman and Jim Clem. And the first group of inductees in 2014 included the 1970 men’s basketball team, Jerry Allen, Art Feiro, Kathy Murphy-Carey and Dr. Wally Sigmar.
“Just visiting our Hall of Fame web page every now and then takes me down a memory lane that is beyond words,” Ross said. “I can’t wait to learn who’s going in this year and to hear their stories.”
