PA firecracker fun run slated for July 4

PORT ANGELES — A Firecracker 5K/10K Fun Run will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 4.

The run will begin at 1 p.m. on the Waterfront Trail near City Pier.

Patriotic attire is encouraged and prizes will be awarded for the Most Festive Independence Day attire, as well as for fastest woman and man and fastest girl and boy.

Cost is $25 for adults, $10 for youth ages 7 to 20 and free for ages 6 and younger.

Proceeds will benefit the Hurricane Ridge Winter Sports Club.

BMX track free day

PORT ANGELES — The Lincoln Park BMX Track in Port Angeles will hold an Olympic Day on Saturday, featuring free racing and memberships.

The free day is offered by USA BMX and USA Cycling to promote the Olympic values and participation in sport across the globe.

Sign up is available for all ages from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Riders should bring a helmet and wear a long-sleeved shirt and pants. A limited number of loaner bikes are available.

Sports physicals in PT

PORT TOWNSEND — High School athletes can schedule a sports physical in advance of the fall prep sports season at Port Townsend High School’s school-based Health Center.

The Health Center is based in the Gael Stuart Building at the school, 1500 Van Ness St., from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 15, 17 and 22.

The physicals are offered by the Jefferson County Department of Health.

There are insurance billing and sliding-scale payment options.
