PORT ANGELES — Registration is now open for the 2018 Olympic Adventure Trail Run to be held April 28.

The event, which includes a 12K and a half-marathon, traverses Kelly Ridges between Olympic National Park and the Strait of Juan de Fuca. Highlights include a trail through a lush forest, a view of the Elwha Valley and stunning views of the Strait and Vancouver Island.

There will be a post-run party and barbecue at the Harbinger Winery.

The half marathon is limited to 125 people. The cost is $50, with participants under 18 paying $30.

The 12K is also limited to 125 people. The cost for this race is $40, with runners under 18 paying $30.

There will be minimal aid stations and runners are expected to be self-sufficient.

There will be no T-shirts, but runners will get an OAT Run pint glass at the barbecue lunch.

The half-marathon begins at 9:30 a.m. and runners must take an 8:45 a.m. shuttle from the Harbinger Winery in Port Angeles. The 12K begins at 10:30 a.m., with the mandatory shuttle leaving at 10 a.m.

A portion of proceeds are donated to the Peninsula Trails Coalition, a local nonprofit dedicated to the construction, maintenance and promotion of the Olympic Discovery Trail and Olympic Adventure Trail, and also to the Peninsula chapter of the Backcountry Horsemen of Washington.
