Rider football parents meet Thursday
PORT ANGELES — A meeting for parents and guardians of Port Angeles Roughrider football players will be held in the school library at 6 p.m. Thursday.

Boys tennis starts
PORT ANGELES — The Port Angeles Roughriders boys tennis program will open its season with a 3 p.m. practice at the high school courts today.
“This is a great individual sport that is fast paced and very rewarding,” head coach Gil Stockton said.
“To those that have never played before, remember that everyone always starts in the same place in the beginning and progresses through ability and desire.
“Four years ago a young man [Janson Pederson] who had never lifted a racket [and he] went to the state championship [tournament] his last two years as a Roughrider.”

PORT ANGELS — Registration is open for the Big Hurt multi-sport race on Saturday, Sept. 24. The event consists of four legs — mountain bike, kayak, road bike, and run — athletes can do all four legs solo in Iron Division, or form a relay team of up to four participants.
Athletes must register by Sept. 1 to get a T-shirt.

Hyppa hoops camp
PORT ANGELES — Chris Hyppa Basketball will conduct an elite basketball camp for boys and girlsin grades 5-12 at the Peninsula College gymnasium on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 9-10.
The camp will run from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m Friday, Sept. 9 and from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept.10.
Hyppa serves as the official skills consultant to the WNBA’s Seattle Storm and the lead trainer toone of the top college recruiting services in the country Chris Hansen’s Check Me Out Showcase.
Arvin Mosely, Mark Wilkerson and Jimmy Anderson also will offer their talents and expertise asinstructors.
The camp is limited to 40 players and the cost is $125 per player.
Players should dress to play basketball and bring a basketball and a small meal.
