SEQUIM — Sequim High School senior cheer captain Kianna Miller has earned a spot on the cheer squad at Western Washington University.
Miller completed a virtual tryout, submitting a cheer routine video online and was selected for one of 21 spots on the Vikings cheer team.
Earlier in the school year Miller helped lead the Wolves cheer squad to a sixth-place finish at the WIAA State Championships. She was recognized as a cheer All-American and represented the team in London over winter break.
Virtual run/walk
PORT ANGELES — Runners and walkers will attempt to meet a $10,000 fundraising goal for OMCares, an independent, Olympic Medical Center employee-operated emergency fund during an OMCares May Virtual Run/Walk.
Runners and walkers can choose from 5K, 10K, half-marathon and full marathon distances or form virtual teams and split up the distance while completing a full 26.2-mile marathon.
The Port Angeles Marathon Association is donating its time and all supplies, so 100 percent of all funds received will go to OMCares.
Participants will receive a running shirt (T-shirt or long-sleeve), medal and race bib. The running shirt and medal are vintage inventory from Port Angeles Marathon Association. The race bibs are donated by Road iD.
This event is free for all OMC Employees, just contact the OMC Health and Wellness team or email race director Victoria Jones at victoria@nodm.com for a discount code.
The run/walk is a $20 donation for the public.
