SEQUIM — Dungeness Valley Health and Wellness Clinic/The Sequim Free Clinic will once again hold its annual 5K Fun Walk at 10 a.m. Aug. 12, starting at the Sequim Medical Plaza at 777 N. 5th Ave. in Sequim.
This is the clinic’s only fundraiser of the year. The event is free to all.
Donations are welcome, but not required.
People can walk the course if they prefer. Registration opens at 9:30 a.m. for individuals, families and teams who choose to walk or run from the clinic to West Hendrickson Road and on the Discovery Trail to the Dungeness River Bridge and back. All pets must be leashed on the walk.
After the walk, people can take time to visit the clinic’s health fair. There will be screenings for blood pressure, blood sugar and oxygen saturation. A variety of health and wellness information and services will be available. The Walk and Health Fair is a way to support the clinic’s mission of providing continued access to health care for those in need in the community.
All proceeds from the walk go to the Dungeness Valley Health and Wellness Clinic, Sequim’s free clinic. This year the clinic has secured $10,000 in matching funds with a goal of $30,000 total.
The clinic provides basic urgent care and chronic health care services to uninsured community members. It is supported by more than 70 volunteers, including physicians, other professional health care providers and laypersons, as well as private and public donations from the Sequim community and beyond. The 2023 Proud Supporter Sponsors include Jamestown Family Health Clinic, KSQM FM Radio Station, Olympic Medical Center and Castell Insurance, Sound Community Bank, First Federal Bank and several private donors.
