INDIAN WELLS, Calif. — Seven members of the Sequim Picklers qualified for, and recently participated in, the Margaritaville USA Pickleball National Championships.

Club members John Herbold, Colleen Alger, Richard Reed, Bob Sester, Steve Bennett, Jeannie Ramsey and Beverly Hoffman competed alongside more than 2,000 players from across the United States in a two-week-long tournament.

Bennett earned a silver medal in the 3.5 Men’s Singles 75-Plus division.

The competition was held at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden, which plays host to professional tennis tournaments and includes the second-largest outdoor tennis stadium in the world.

Forks wins

LACEY — The Spartans earned a 49-44 boys basketball road win over Northwest Christian without two significant contributors Wednesday.

Forks was without Riley Pursley and Aidan Salazar.

“Protocols for Riley and Aidan, so that’s a big hit for us,” coach Rick Gooding said. “So it’s like anything, you have to respond and go through a little adversity.”

Logan Olson led the way for the Spartans (3-1, 4-4) with 22 points.

“Logan did a good job; he maintained his scoring across the quarters and was pretty consistent getting buckets,” Gooding said. “Dylan had all 10 of his points in the first half.”

Forks is scheduled to host Ocosta tonight.
