PC hoops camp coming up later this month

PORT ANGELES — The Peninsula College Kids Basketball Camp will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday, Aug. 20-24.

The camp is for players ages 6 through 16.

Players should bring gym shoes, a water bottle and a basketball.

College coaches and athletes will instruct the camp.

BMX clinic on track

PORT ANGELES — A BMX racing clinic with Jason Carnes, a decorated USA BMX racer, will be held at the Lincoln Park BMX Track from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 15.

The clinic is intended for all ages and skill levels. The cost is $40.

Carnes will lead an evening of sprints, pumps, jumps, carves and manuals.

Those interested can pre-register at the track or sign up the night of the clinic.

Volunteers sought

PORT ANGELES —Volunteers are sought for two upcoming race events in the Port Angeles area.

The Great Olympic Adventure Trail (GOAT) Run, made up of a trail marathon, a half marathon and a 50-kilometer run will be held Saturday, Sept. 8 west of Port Angeles.

The Goat Run seeks course marshals, timing helpers, registration and packet pick up assistance, parking and more.

Volunteers will receive a GOAT Run pint glass and beverages.

The Big Hurt, a multi-sport race with a 16.5-mile mountain bike ride, a 3-mile kayak leg, a 30-mile road bike segment and a 10-kilometer run, will be held in and around Port Angeles on Saturday, Sept. 22.

Big Hurt volunteers will receive a Big Hurt T-shirt and a visit to the beer garden.
