Storm King Soccer Tryouts

AGNEW — Storm King Soccer Club will hold tryouts for the fall 2018 select season on May 19-20 at Agnew Fields.

Teams will be formed for the following age groups, based on birth year: Boys: 2000-2010 and girls 2004-2010

The U10-13 team tryouts will be held from 8:30 a.m. to noon, while the U14-19 tryouts will be held from 1:30 p.m. to 5 p.m.

There is no cost for tryouts. The fees for players who are selected for a team are available at the Stormking Soccer website (http://www.stormking soccer.com). Scholarships and payment plans are available.

Online registration is required prior to tryouts. Register by May 14 to be entered in a drawing for prizes.

MayDay Results

PORT ANGELES — Teams from Port Angeles won the girls’ eighth-grade division and the boys’ high school division at the Port Angeles Parks and Recreation’s MayDay Basketball Tournament.

The Peninsula Threat from Port Angeles beat Cedarcrest Selection in the girls’ eighth-grade division championship by the score of 46-17. The Port Angeles high school team, PA White, beat Bremerton CBA 74-72 in overtime.

Standings were:

Girls Eighth Grade Division — Peninsula Threat, first; Cedarcrest Select, second; DRIVE Basketball (Poulsbo), third; Port Angeles Hazard, fourth. Championship Game: Threat 46, Cedarcrest 17.

Boys Fifth Grade Division — DRIVE Basketball 6th, first; Port Angeles Sixers, second; Sequim Wolves, third; DRIVE Basketball 5, fourth; Port Angeles 5, fifth. Championship Game: DRIVE 6 45, P.A. Sixers 44.

Boys High School Division — PA White, first; Bremerton CBA, second; Port Angeles Green, third; Courtenay Yetis (Courtenay, B.C.), fourth. Championship Game: Port Angeles White 74, Bremerton CBA 72 (OT).

Junior Babe Ruth

PORT ANGELES — Athletes’ Choice beat Co-Op 13-1 in five innings behind Wyatt Halls pitching in Olympic Junior Babe Ruth action. Hall gave up only one run on three hits, while striking out six and allowing just two walks. Aaron Edmiston finished the fifth inning with two flyouts and a strikeout.

Kamron Meadows, Bryson Morris, Hall and Edminston had hits in the game. Hunter Robinson had a triple and scored four times for Athletes’ Choice. For Co-Op, Colten Reed had two hits and Austin Newtom a hit.

On Thursday night, Swain’s topped First Federal 13-1. Adam Watkins was 2 for 2 with a triple, while James Burkhardt, Brantyn Fisler, Elijah Flodstrom and Tanner Price all had hits. Flodstrom and Bryce Campbell combined on the hill, giving up one run on three hits and seven strikeouts. Nathan Seeyle was 2 for 3 with a triple for First Federal.
