AREA SPORTS BRIEFS: Trio wins medals at the World Senior Games

PORT ANGELES — Three Olympic Peninsula senior athletes brought home medals in pickleball from the World Senior Games held late last month in St. George, Utah.

The World Senior Games features more than 1,100 athletes competing in 30 sports, including pickleball, softball, swimming, square dancing and soccer.

Beverly Hoffman, Jeanie Ramsey and Steve Bennett competed from the Olympic Peninsula. Ramsey and Hoffman finished third in the 4.0 skill level, 75-79 age group in women’s pickleball doubles. Hoffman and Bennett came in second in the 4.0 skill level, 75-79 mixed doubles.

Bennett teamed with Ron Greeno of Sacramento, Calif., coming in second in the 4.0 skill level, 75-79 men’s doubles. Bennett also just missed a third medal, finishing fourth in the men’s singles.
