College soccer Pirates win at Edmonds
EDMONDS — Stingy defensive performances by the Peninsula College men’s and women’s soccer teams resulted in a pair of shutout victories at Edmonds.
The Pirate women didn’t allow a single shot on goal in a 3-0 win over the Tritons, frustrating Edmonds into picking up four yellow cards in the contest.
Peninsula (4-0) received goals from Cecilia Jenkins, Makenna Wilson and Alysia Alvarado.
The Pirate men were also up to the task defensively, limiting Edmonds to just two shots on goal and a corner kick — all in the second half of a 2-0 win.
Theodore Baiye scored a goal in the 10th minute off an assist from Nicolas Hernandez and Keigo Takai added an insurance goal in the 68th minute for Peninsula (3-1-0)
Alejandro Lopez stopped both Tritons’ shots to earn a shutout in goal.
The Pirates host Whatcom on Monday with the women’s game at 2 p.m. and the men’s at 4 p.m.
