AREA SPORTS: Crescent boys make fourth-quarter stand in win vs. Crosspoint

Fourth-quarter defensive stands lift up Loggers

JOYCE — Crescent came up with clutch stops defensively and converted on the other end to pull away from Crosspoint in a 53-34 nonleague boys basketball game that was closer than the scoreboard indicated.

“We got a good test from a long and athletic Crosspoint team,” Loggers boys basketball coach Chris Ferrier said. “We struggled to get our shots to drop in the first half, but our defense was pretty solid. We just preached to the guys the need to get stops, and we came out in the third quarter with some renewed defensive enthusiasm.

“This was really closer than the final score. The fourth quarter, we got consecutive stops and layups on five trips in a row to open the game up. Everything fed off our defense.”

Ferrier said his team shared the ball well.

“We had 16 assists on 22 baskets, which is really solid for us,” Ferrier said.

“Levi Bourm had a really good game with five assists and eights rebounds [plus four points]. Dom Sprague had four assists, and Josh Noel came off the bench and grabbed eight rebounds in two quarters of play.”

Mikah Love led the Loggers with 16 points, Henry Bourm added 14 and Dom Sprague added 10.

Crescent (3-2) visits Ocosta today.
