Local 155 earns walk-off win in Babe Ruth action
PORT ANGELES — Jaron Tolliver doubled Carson Waddell home from second base to lift Local 155 to a 5-4 walk-off win over Swain’s in Olympic Junior Babe Ruth baseball at Volunteer Park.
Waddell also stole four bases and started on the mound for Local 155, giving up two runs to Swain’s in the first on an Ethan Swenson single and a Jensen Wolfe walk.
Local tied the game at 2-all in its half of the first when Landon Eastman doubled home Felix Gonzales and Alik Ross.
An Asher Irvine sacrifice bunt scored Eastman in the third inning to put Local up 3-2.
Gonzales went four shutout innings in relief, scattering three hits while striking out five and walking none.
For Swain’s, Diego Waterkotee led with two runs batted in and two hits, Swenson collected three hits, and Van Johnson also reached with a base hit.
Olympic Junior Babe Ruth’s Les Shore Memorial End-of-Season Tournament starts today with games at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. and continues Tuesday and Wednesday — all leading to the tournament championship on June 11.
Lefties fall late 3-2
PORT ANGELES — Port Angeles dropped a nonleague wood bat baseball contest to the Redmond Dudes 3-2 Thursday night at Civic Field.
Drew Pfundt took the loss for Port Angeles. Pfundt gave up a leadoff single and a walk before an error on a fielder’s choice by shortstop Roberto Nunez scored the eventual winning run.
Port Angeles tied the game at 2-all in the seventh when Kosei Suzuki led off the inning with a walk, moved to second on a passed ball and came home on Yahir Ramirez’s two-out single.
Suzuki also doubled and scored on a Zach Blair double to put the Lefties on the board in the second inning.
Port Angeles and Wilder Baseball alumni John Vaara picked up his first inning of the summer on the mound with the 6-foot-8 pitcher allowing a hit and striking out a batter.
The Lefties opened the West Coast League season late Friday and will continue a road series today and Sunday in Wenatchee.

Women’s flag football
PORT ANGELES — A summer flag football league for women 18 and older will begin June 10 and run through July 15.
The league will have a six-week schedule including playoffs with teams organized into divisions based on grade level.
Practices are held 45 minutes prior to Monday evening games at the Monroe Playfield, 106 Monroe Road.
A jersey and flags will be included.
The registration fee is $150.

Summer hoops camp
PORT ANGELES — Port Angeles basketball will host summer youth camps for boys entering grades 3-5 and 6-8 this fall from July 15-18 at Port Angeles High School.
Incoming students in grades 3-5 will attend from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Students entering sixth through eighth grades will go from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
The cost is $75 per camper, and registration and payment will be taken at the door via credit/debit card or check made out to Port Angeles Boys Basketball.
