PT ladies golf

PORT TOWNSEND — A blustery but dry day greeted the Port Townsend Ladies Golf Club as golfers gathered to end their season.

While some members may play into the fall, weather permitting, the official season closed with competitive play, awards and a luncheon meeting to plan for the 2024 season.

The last official Tuesday game day ended with a tie for first place low net. Linda Deal and Barb Matter each posted a score of 36. Awards were given for club championships. In September, players competed in two rounds of nine holes on separate days. The combined 18-hole scores were tallied and the low gross championship was awarded to Betty Gastfield. Low net championship was won by Matter.

Additional prizes and awards were given for outstanding service to the Ladies Club, the golf course and the community. These volunteer members gave time for course preservation and beautification and held golf instruction clinics for local youth. Club captain Katherine Buchanan was given an award and gift for her many years of leadership.

The club is grateful that the Port Townsend municipal course will be moving forward with a new non-profit management team in place. Members look forward to working with the new team and the city and plan to appoint a liaison officer to work with the new management team.
