PAHS holds youth volleyball camp July 25-27

PORT ANGELES — Athletes in second through ninth grade are eligible to register for the Port Angeles High School Youth Volleyball Camp set July 25-27.

Current Roughrider volleyball coaches, along with varsity and JV players and former Port Angeles players will provide skill-based instruction at each athlete’s level (beginner, intermediate and advanced).

Athletes will participate in team activities and competitions each day. Participants will learn about teamwork, communication, problem solving and cooperation as they participate in game-based play.

The cost is $50, which includes a camp T-shirt. Shirts are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Players should bring their own water bottle, dress in athletic clothing and have their hair out of their face. Kneepads are encouraged but not required.

Campers in grades two through five will attend from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. each day. Attendees in sixth through ninth grades will attend from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

PC basketball camps

PORT ANGELES — Peninsula College will host Pirate Basketball Camps for boys and girls ages 7 through 13 from July 18-22 and again from Aug. 22-26.

The camp will be held from 9 a.m. to noon each day.

Current Peninsula coaches and players will instruct campers.

The cost is $100 and registration is available at https://athletics.pencol.edu/event-tickets.

BMX open house June 18

PORT ANGELES — Those interested in learning about BMX racing and opportunities at Lincoln Park BMX Track can attend a BMX Registration Day and open house from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 18.

Helmets and bikes can be borrowed.

The open house will cover the sport of BMX, how it works, equipment, riding the track and how races are held.

Registration for a free race will run from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Racing will start at 5:15 p.m. and membership is not required for this event.

This event is for all kids age 2 and older who can ride a balance bike or a pedal bike. If kids bring their own bike, it needs to have the kickstand removed.

Lincoln Park BMX will host its annual Race for Life double points race Sunday, June 19. Registration runs from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Race fees are $20. Proceeds go to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

Cedars ladies golfers

SEQUIM — The Cedars at Dungeness Women’s Golf Association had 19 women out Wednesday to celebrate National Women’s Golf Day and play a Throw Out competition game.

Flight 1: Jan Clendening net -4, Yoon Park & Linda Hash net -3.

KP: Katherine Evans No. 8: 15 feet, 1 inch.

Putts: Marine Hirschfeld, Park, Wanda Synnestevdt.

Flight 2: Carin Bunney, Peg Phillips and Lori Wyngaert net -2.

Putts: Peg Phillips 32, Bev Handshumaker 33.

Birdie: Park No. 8.

Chip-in: Wyngaert No. 18.
