PORT ANGELES — The Pirate Zombie Mud Run is back — and organizers say it’s bigger, muddier and more thrilling than ever.

The action-packed, family-friendly obstacle course that challenges speed, strength and strategy … all while being chased by the undead is set for May 17.

“We’re beyond excited to bring this tradition back to life,” said Jason Peters, PC’s student body vice president and event organizer.

“We’re turning our peaceful campus and surrounding woods into a post-apocalyptic playground. You bring the energy — we’ll bring the zombies, mud and chaos. Come ready to survive.”

Participants will launch in teams of four to eight every few minutes on a 2-mile course weaving through campus and the forest. Grab a flag belt at the start and guard it with your life — zombies will be stationed throughout the route, trying to steal it.

Make it to the finish line with your flag, and you’ll be awarded a survivor’s medal. Get “infected”? Swing by the first aid tent for a zombie antidote to reclaim your humanity and cross the finish line.

Expect a high-adrenaline experience, with three massive inflatables, a foam cannon, a muddy crawl pit, water blasters and more.

“This was one of the most popular events on campus before the pandemic,” said Rick Ross, student government advisor. “It’s not just a run — it’s a hilarious, muddy, unforgettable way to bond with friends, coworkers or your family. In my 30 years at PC, this one stands out as pure fun.”

Discounted rates are available through April 30 with adults $30, youth ages 17 and younger $10 and PC students $10 and families of four for $60 with additional family members $10.

Prices rise to $40/$15/$75 after April 30.
