Fall adult soccer, volleyball leagues offered by PC

PORT ANGELES – Adult coed recreation opportunities for soccer, volleyball and basketball get under way in September, all hosted by Peninsula College.

The Peninsula Soccer League features matches on Sundays from Sept. 1 through November.

The Peninsula Volleyball League has two divisions with games on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from mid-September through December.

The fee to participate in the adult soccer and volleyball leagues is $50 per person. Players can register as part of a team at https://tinyurl.com/PDN-PCRec24.

Those wanting to get on a team for soccer or volleyball are encouraged to contact Jake Hughes (soccer) at jahughes@pencol.edu or Rick Ross (volleyball) at rross@pencol.edu. Every effort will be made to get players attached to teams.

Basketball players can participate in a drop-in league called Peninsula Noon Hoops during the noon hour on Mondays and Fridays from Sept. 9 through December.

A formal league begins in January with games on Sundays. Noon Hoops is a drop-in event, but participants need to be registered, also at $50 for the fall session.

Adult recreation sports are limited to persons ages 16 and older.

Free sports physicals

FORKS — Free sports physicals for students in grades 7-12 will be provided at the Forks High School Commons from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday.

The physical exams are provided by Forks Community Hospital medical staff.

High school sports begin practices for football Aug. 21 and all other sports Aug. 25.

Wolfpack pizza benefit

SEQUIM — Sequim Wolfpack Youth Football and Cheer will hold a Papa Murphy’s Pizza fundraiser on Monday.

The youth league will receive 40-percent of total purchases from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at the Sequim Papa Murphy’s, in the Safeway Plaza at 680 W. Washington St., Suite E103.

Customers must mention Wolfpack Football at pick up.

Online/app orders are encouraged.

Fun Walk Saturday

SEQUIM — The Dungeness Valley Health & Wellness Clinic, also known as The Sequim Free Clinic, hosts its 17th Fun Walk and Health Fair, starting at 9 a.m. on Saturday.

The event will start and finish at Trinity United Methodist Church, 100 Blake Ave., and usethe Olympic Discovery Trail through the adjacent Carrie Blake Community Park.

The event is the clinic’s sole fundraiser. Registration begins at 8 a.m.

The Fun Walk has two options: a 5k (3.1-mile) route, and a 1-mile course. All pets are welcome but must be leashed during the walk.

Community members are encouraged to gather up, family and co-workers to form a team and compete for “Top Fundraising Champions” (the team who raises the most money) and/or “Biggest Step Team” (the team with the most walkers).

All proceeds support the Dungeness Valley Health & Wellness Clinic, an organization that offers basic urgent care and chronic medical care for the uninsured and under-insured in the community.

This event is free to all, and while donations are welcome they are not required, clinic representatives said.

For more information about the event or to get a team packet, call Sara Nicholls at 360-582-2976.
