The pairings of Mimi Shin and Jane Peoples and Lori Wyngaert and Lori Oaks tied for the top spot while Lisa Chon and Carin Bunney were second and Bobbie Piety and Yoon Park third. Marlene Hirschfeld and Judy Reno won Best Costume.

AREA SPORTS: Wilder Baseball Club tryouts begin Saturday at Civic Field

Jefferson County Parks & Recreation hosting summer basketball camp

PORT ANGELES — Wilder Baseball Club will hold multi-day tryouts for players ages 14-19 who attend or attended a Clallam, Jefferson or Kitsap county high school beginning Saturday.

Wilder Baseball is an American Legion Baseball program that fields a senior team for ages 16-19, a junior team for 15-17 and an A team for 14-16.

Tryouts will be held at Civic Field.

Ages 16-19 will try out from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

Ages 14-15 and all Olympic Junior Babe Ruth players will try out from 3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

JeffCo hoops camp

PORT TOWNSEND — Jefferson County Parks and Recreation will hold its annual summer basketball camp for kids entering grades one through eight from July 8-11.

The camp will run from 9 a.m. to noon at the Blue Heron Middle School gym, 3939 San Juan Ave.

This camp helps to prepare players for game play through drills that improve technique in dribbling, shooting, passing and other fundamentals.

All skill levels are welcome.

The cost is $75 per player.

Players should bring their own snack and water bottle and wear non-marking shoes.

June 28 is the deadline to register.

Parks and Rec board

PORT TOWNSEND — The Jefferson County Parks and Recreation Advisory Board is seeking volunteer advisory board member applicants from districts 1 and 3.

The board meets six times per year from 3 p.m. to 4:40 p.m. on the first Thursday of February, April, June, August, October and December.

Board members participate in meetings that focus on community input, problem solving and planning. Members also have the option of volunteering in parks, attending events and engaging with recreation programs.
