ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Alexis Gray, Quilcene softball

Quilcene’s Alexis Gray came up huge for the Rangers this weekend in their run to the state championship game and a second place finish in the 1B Division.

Gray went 6-12 in the State 1B Tournament for a .500 batting average, with eight RBIs in three games.

Against Sunnyside Christian, Gray went 1 for 4 with an RBI as Quilcene won 5-4. But, she was just getting started. In the 1B state semifinal against Colton, she went 3 for 4 with four RBIs as the Rangers won another one-run thriller 8-7.

In the championship game, Gray did all she could to help the Rangers, going 2 for 4 with 3 RBIs. The Rangers gave state champion Pomeroy everything it could handle, going 10 innings before finally falling 5-4.
