ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Chimacum’s Peyton Hundley

Peyton Hundley

Chimacum’s Peyton Hundley only learned he would start at quarterback a few days before the Cowboys’ 21-6 triumph over Neah Bay. No matter. Hundley was mistake-free in guiding Chimacum’s misdirection-based double wing offense, rushing 18 times for 73 yards and a touchdown and completing 5 of 8 passes for 48 yards, including a 14-yard TD strike to Issac Purser.

The win snapped the Cowboys’ nine-game losing streak dating back to 2016.

“Our playsheet was condensed down to eight to 10 plays and a lot of the stuff we did [Friday night] was him doing it on his own,” Chimacum coach Mike Dowling said. “Peyton is a wild card. He’s got talent.”

Teammate Logan Shaw agreed.

“That’s probably hands-down the most impressive [performance] to get thrown in at quarterback three days ago and step right up and not be afraid to tuck it and run. That’s the explosiveness we’ve needed back there and haven’t seen for a couple of years.”
