What a great start to the season for Sequim distance runner Colby Ellefson.
Ellefson, a senior, is looking for a big season in his final year of preps. He won the three-mile Salt Creek Invitational on Saturday, improving his third-place finish from 2022 and his fifth place in 2021.
This comes after a fifth-place finish in the prestigious Bellarmine Invitational two-mile run, going up against runners from all kinds of classifications.
Ellefson didn’t run a lot of cross country last year, but in track and field during the spring, won seven distance events. He’s a year older and faster now and Saturday could be the beginning of a lot of first-place finishes for Ellefson.
Ellefson’s teammates, Kaitlyn Bloomenrader and Dawn Hulstedt, took second and third in the girls’ race at Salt Creek as it was a highly successful meet for the Wolves.
