ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Cort Prose, Forks basketball

Cort Prose

What a week for Forks’ Cort Prose.

First, the hot-shooting Prose drilled eight 3-pointers and scored 30 points to help Forks beat Chimacum on Jan. 25.

To follow that up, Prose scored 21 points in a crucial game against Evergreen 1A rival Montesano on Friday to help the Spartans win 70-68, keeping Forks in first place in league. Earlier in the season, Prose also made an assist to teammate Braton Armas for a game-winning shot at the buzzer.

Prose, who also has games of 22, 24 and 26 this season, is one of the big reasons the Spartans are looking at an Evergreen 1A championship with a 14-4 overall record.
