ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Emmanuel “Bubba” Hernandez, Forks football

What an impact freshman Emmanuel “Bubba” Hernandez has already made for the Forks football team.

Playing in just his second varsity game Friday against a powerful Neah Bay team, Hernandez had a spectacular game. He is already known in the Forks area as being a great youth football and baseball player and it looks like he’s going to be a varsity force for the next four years.

First, he quickly got the Spartans on the board with a 78-yard kick return.

Taking over as quarterback, Hernandez threw for five touchdowns. He finished the game completing 13-for-16 passes for 246 yards. With another 11 yards rushing, he accounted for six touchdowns and 335 yards of total offense for the Spartans in a 49-16 win.

Hernandez and his 2-0 Spartans teammates take on Morton-White Pass at home Friday night.
