ATHLETE OF THE WEEK, Erin Macedo, Quilcene softball

Erin Macedo

Erin Macedo

Erin Macedo has been on a tear lately for the Quilcene Rangers softball squad.

Macedo’s bat and glove behind the plate have been a big part of the Rangers’ success this year. Quilcene is undefeated in the Sea-Tac 1B League so far (11-1 overall, the Rangers’ only loss was to the Port Angeles JV squad) and if they can beat Rainier Christian in a big game today, they are likely well on their way to a league championship.

Macedo is a slugging machine for the Rangers who not only hits for average, she hits for extra bases. In just one week last week, Macedo hit a three-run home run against Klahowya, a two-run home run against Muckleshoot and a triple against Kingston.

The Athlete of the Week is brought to you by the sports department at the Peninsula Daily News along with the sponsorship of Swain’s General Store, serving Clallam and Jefferson counties since 1957.
