ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Eve Burke, Port Angeles basketball

Eve Burke

Eve Burke

Eve Burke is one of the reasons the Port Angeles girls are unbeaten in the Olympic League 2A Division and are in the top 10 in the state in the RPI rankings with a 10-3 overall record.

Burke, an undersized forward at 5-foot-7, has been asserting herself offensively this season, especially in the past week. She led the Roughriders with 14 points on 7 for 11 shooting in Port Angeles’ big win over powerhouse Sequim on Saturday night, as the Riders handed the Wolves their first loss in league this season.

Last weekend against Bremerton, Burke also had 18 points on 8 for 11 shooting. She added five steals.

Look for Burke to continue to be a big part of the Roughriders’ success this season.
